Global financial crisis II
Here's one for the conspiracy theorists.
Has the current credit crisis been orchestrated by the worlds bankers to enable the first steps towards a new world order.
We have already seen a joint interest rate cut across the world from the USA, Europe & China and calls for more joint action to resolve the matter. When in reality the root of the problem is that the banks will not lend to anyone and to each other no matter how much government are giving them to persuade them to do so.
Are we going to see further global co-operation to solve the problem, followed by increasing global actions and legislation to ensure this does not happen again, which will constantly be updated until at some point the politicians say that all our financial systems are now so interlinked that we need one world government to administer it.
Now I admit I am not an economist, but it seems to me that the solution is obvious – legislation to, at least temporarily, force banks to lend a percentage of their total worth to other banks, underwritten by the governments.
That way liquidity is restored any the risk is removed from the banks.

Sarah Palin
I have a love hate relationship with conspiracy theories. I think they can be great entertainment, but often let themselves down by accepting opinion as fact and making leaps in logic without sufficient evidence.
So it was with my usual sceptical mind and usual lack of trust of what anyone says that I watched Zeitgeist, the Movie.
I mention this not because I am going to give an opinion on its claims either way, that's something you should do for yourself after researching the topics raised.
I mention this because it is in the process of researching the claims that I came across www.carm.org, a site which debunks any criticism or doubts over Christianity.
The only thing I will say about the movie is that the future it claims the people in power are conspiring to create is entirely possible, there may or may not be a conspiracy to achieve this, you can make up your own mind on this.
But it is certainly worth while being aware of the possibilities when considering topics such as ID cards etc especially when the UK government is so desperate to implement them and constantly changes its justification for their existence i.e. to prevent terrorism – to prevent benefit fraud – to prevent illegal immigration etc.
Anyway back to carm.
It would appear from this website that the Christian right in the USA may not be entirely comfortable with the idea of a female vice president.
They have an article saying “The New Testament restricts a woman from having authority over men in the Christianity church (and the home)” & “Let a woman quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.” & “I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. “
But they conclude that its OK for Sarah Palin because the role of vice president is not in the church or home.
So have I got this right - god allows you to vote for a women vice president, and she can undertake such a role, but she must do what her husband and the church tells her.
I'm glad they cleared that one up!

Energy watchdog
This isn't meant as a government bashing website, but they make it so hard not to, and I'm sure it'll help the paranoid experiment anyway!
So with fuel prices soaring the government abolish the energy watchdog in favour of some general consumer watchdog with no specialised staff.
Government looking after big business again - surely not?

Global financial crisis
I have found recent events very interesting and I think it raises a few important questions.
From a UK perspective we have recently had Northern Rock being privatised to save it and more recently the Lloyds TSB takeover of HBOS.
On the day the Lloyds TSB/HBOS deal became news I was listening to radio 5 live throughout the day and it was very interesting how the story unfolded.
1. A journalist scoops the story of “advanced merger talks”.
2. There are claims that the PM himself had a hand in the deal coming together.
3. It becomes obvious that the deal breaches UK competition law.
4. The chancellor then states that the government had nothing to do with the deal but would do everything it could to allow it to happen and “relax” competition law to allow the deal to go ahead.
OK so I'm paranoid and think everyone is lying to me anyway, but no government involvement in the deal – come off it!
I'm sure the government would have faced a lot of criticism from other parties if it had been seen to have played and major part in brokering the deal, and this explains the chancellors statement.
But lets face facts, the government couldn't privatise yet another bank let alone one as big as HBOS, but equally it couldn't let it go under, so another solution was needed – enter stage right Lloyds TSB.
So we are expected to believe that Lloyds TSB pursued this deal knowing that it would breach UK competition law without some nod from the government!
OK, so you might say the government had no choice – it couldn't let HBOS fail and destroy the financial markets.
Well why not – let face it, capitalism widens the gap between rich and poor, destroys and plunders the planets resources for the benefit of the few, is responsible for wars and famine.
Do I have a better system? That's not really the point and is often used to silence justifiable criticism and is such a huge topic that needs a lot of discussion, and lets face it, the people in power are happy with they're lot, and we will not look for a better solution until we are forced to.
So in the meantime the governments of the world will bail out the bankers who have created to whole mess (and have received massive bonuses for doing so), whilst the public pay for their mistake through their taxes and no doubt more expensive banking.
And in the UK we end up with a bank so large that the laws to protect consumers had to be changed to allow it.
So the banks win again with an even bigger and more powerful business as a reward for messing up in the first place!
Isn't the government doing a great job representing the interests of the people and the country?

A little experiment
Am I really paranoid?
How would I know?
I can never know I am right unless they bash down my door - at which point I have just been proven correct and therefore I was never paranoid - just more aware than the general population!
OK, so whats the point of the blog then?
I am conducting a little experiment which I have decided to document in this blog, and which this blog will no doubt become a part of.
If they bash down my door then I have demonstrated that we should all be very afraid.
If nothing happens then I'll put it down to being lucky - see you can never win with paranoia!
So whats the experiment your might ask?
I can't really give details - I am far too paranoid for that!
Put simply, I want to discover if all our internet browsing is being monitored by government/secret services.
I have already put the first part of the experiment into action, and this is the second part. Lets see how long I have before they knock down my door.
